It is time for you to tell us how successful our Year Books have been this year and any improvements we can make. Year Books have replaced twice yearly written reports. They are sent home each term and report on your child’s achievements over the term. Please complete the simple chart – children use this chart at school and will support you in completing it. We would love your ideas and your child/children’s. All completed feedback forms returned to the office go in for a chance to win a $20 gift voucher. No names are required, children hand into box and report their name to the office. No offence will be taken to any suggestions – we want to know your honest feelings.

The new New Zealand teaching curriculum has arrived at school. Emily and Lynette are attending a course in Hamilton about successful implementation of this. Staff are beginning to use it as part of our Gifted & Talented contract.

This week we are focusing on respecting our property and the property of others.
Special attention will be given to those children who -
•      Return PE gear
•      Wear their own hat and do not touch others
•      Care for our school environment

Waihi East teaching staff have entered a 2 year contract with the advisory service developing Gifted & Talented programmes for our students. Yesterday we held a professional development day where staff planned activities for Term 1 2008. Part of our programme also included
the use of the new curriculum. Janet Bourne our Advisor, is working with Emily next week, putting an action plan in place so that our children
benefit from her new ideas.

Goal for the week is using our manners and being courteous to others. This is a value from our Charter. At Monday’s assembly children were very courteous. We look forward to hearing how children have met this goal at Thursday’s assembly. Congratulations to all our students for 100% participation in our Kool Kids Day.
