Year 5/6 East School pupils experienced surfing while on their school camp in February, pupils have added comments to this movie explaining the types of things they learnt at the beach.

This week is our week of celebrations. We hope you enjoyed reading your child’s comments on their achievements. Staff have identified current progress. Let’s keep working together to develop achievement across the school.

A reminder to parents / caregivers that from the 1st day of Term 2, the school uniform becomes compulsory for all students. If children are waiting for uniforms [hopefully they will be here by Friday] they will be ex- cused from uniforms until they arrive.

BASKETBALL SKILLS CAMP

Enjoy 2 days of jammed packed fun while learning how to play the fun sport of basketball. Heaps of prizes and give-a-ways so don’t miss out. Waihi Event Centre on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd April. Cost is $40 for both days. Enquiries to Pauline or Andrew (contact East School for their contact details).

LEARN TO SURF

Enjoy a morning at the beach. Full water safety and coaching session by professional surf coach Trevor. Brighton Park, Waihi Beach Thursday 24th April 9am to 11am. Cost is $10. Registration Forms in School Office to be returned to Office by this Friday 18th.

We need donations of scratchy tickets, nice products / food, as soon as possible. Thanks. All books [sold or not] are to be returned by Wednesday 7th May — 1st week back after the holidays. The raffle will be drawn on Friday 9th May. Mothers Day is Sunday 11th May.

COOL KIDS DAY
This Friday afternoon we celebrate children’s achievements at Waihi East. Exciting activities have been planned. Invitations will be sent home tomorrow.
POOL
The pool has now closed. Pool key holders please return your key asap for your $5 refund.

The Photo Life Studio photographers are here tomorrow – Wednesday 16th April. For Sibling Portraits [children photographed together], collect an envelope from the school office. Please return all envelopes with money by Tuesday 15th April. All children are to wear their school uniform on this day. Those children without a uniform will be supplied a shirt for the photograph.

This week children decided we should put an emphasis on patience as our goal. Children across the school shared examples of what patience would look like at Waihi East. This is the focus of the week. Well done to Molly for her suggestion.

There is a change of day for the Hearing / Vision tester — it will now be on Friday 18th April [last day of term]. She is primarily here to test the new 5 year olds, but will test other children’s hearing and vision if requested. If
you would like your child tested please talk to class teacher or phone the office.
