The Breakfast Club is having huge impact on our students both socially as they sit and eat together but also in that a full puku certainly helps learning! On Monday 16th of March we are having a school breakfast. Cereal, fruit, hot items and smoothies will be available from 8.30 leading into assembly. Spot prizes will be handed out as we celebrate this new school initiative. Together, Anne-Marie and her Team have included a note for you in this week’s newsletter. Their aim is to gain funds to increase our breakfast options e.g. toast and milo and the occasional hot breakfast. Our thanks to Anne-Marie, Clarke, Anne and Karen for their enthusiasm. Let’s all get in behind them and support this group.

Our Teacher Only Day on the 27th of March will be upon us in no time. Fifty local teachers will work together learning about the new curriculum through inquiry based teaching and technology. This year we are developing the Waihi East School Curriculum. This day will support us in this journey.

East School had a fabulous time at the Waihi Cluster Swimming Sports. Congratulations to our fantastic swimming team who had brilliant places. Hadleigh, Fletcher, Reid and Monique will represent Waihi in the North Cluster Inter-School Swimming Championships. Thanks to Phil for organizing this event and our fabulous parent helpers who transported the children to and from the event and gave guidance on the day to the swimmers so they’d be ready for their events . Have a great weekend.

This weeks Habit of Mind is “Persistence”. Successful people don’t give up easily. They stick to it and if it doesn’t work one way, they try another way. Next weeks Habit of Mind is “Thinking Independently”.
