We went down to the Waihi Skate Bowl as one of the activities on ‘Wheelie Day’ Cool Kids Afternoon. Thanks Mrs Steele and Mr McGougan for transporting and being with us at the bowl. Here are some slides of the action.

Room 3 and Room 2 East School children have visited Union Hill in the last two weeks, this has been done under the guidance of Greg Jenks and other NZ Bird and Forest members to see how the control of pests such as possums and rats is going in this area. The children have been involved in setting up and monitoring pest tracking tunnels as well as checking and replenishing bait stations on Union Hill. Quinn, Chris and Travis took some photos at school yesterday (24th August ‘09), some were taken in classrooms with quite a few of Room 3 using the mini tramp and big mat for flips.

Room 7 led assembly for us on Thursday 20th August ‘09, here are some slides taken by Kailala from that assembly.

Our East School teams competed to the max in netball, soccer and rugby with two teams entered in each of the sporting areas, nearly all the senior class children were active on this day. The games were played at the Waihi Netball Courts, Morgan Park for soccer and the Waihi Rugby Grounds. Our year 6 netball team won their division, the year 5 netball team was second in their category and the over 40kg rugby team had a terrifically determined game only being beaten in extra time to finish second in the rugby. On Thursday 13th August from 2.00 p.m. till 3.00p.m. at assembly we were treated to awesome poetry reading by junior classes and speeches by the senior students. It was also the Duffy Books ‘Caught Being Good’ presentation time that we share every two weeks, each class teacher selects two students for a ‘Duffy Book’ and certificate prize.
