Rise Above and Shine
Here is a short video of the Hangi Mr Gurnick and out terrific parents organized at East School.
Last week Beau, Kailala, Liz and I went to Elliott’s Furniture Factory for a Kiwiana project because we are looking for creative or innovative Kiwis. Elliott’s Furniture Company is near the Ohinemuri River on Clarke Street in Waihi.
I think they’re innovative because they make their own furniture. We got a personal tour led by a man named Chris. He showed us the giant computer it was like a television! Then he showed us the process of making the cabinets, tables and carvings. There were giant machines that smooth the wood planks, then they glue the planks together and wait for them to set. Finally they glue and screw the legs and hinges on.
I recorded a sound file that talks about what we saw during our visit to Elliot’s, we also took photos during our time there and made a slide cast by combining the photos and sound file on a website called ‘Slideshare’. We embedded the slidecast with this story here on our school website. Click on the picture below to view it.
